SHARING VALUES
For seven years now, Rio Tinto Alcan and Chantal Petitclerc have had an association that goes far beyond the traditional concept of sponsorship.
Over and above arranging financial support, the aluminum multinational and the athlete were looking to establish a genuine, concrete relationship. To achieve this, Chantal has frequent contact with the company's workers - since 1998 she has been travelling around the world not only to compete, but also to meet Rio Tinto Alcan employees.
Company Ambassador

Over the years, Chantal Petitclerc has also become Rio Tinto Alcan's ambassador to the general public. For thousands of people she has met at public events of all types, Chantal personifies the company.
Despite a busy schedule and frequent travel, Chantal is pleased to accept as many such invitations as possible.
Unforgettable Moments
What stands out for Rio Tinto Alcan from the first seven years of this association? Special moments. Powerful moments - some dramatic, some ordinary - that are fixed in our memories. In particular, the spectacular results at the 2004 Athens Games, when Chantal, encouraged by hundreds of e-mails from her sponsor's employees, won six medals in as many races. And who could forget the historic gold medal win at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002.
Other less dramatic but nonetheless poignant recollections also remain - receptions organized for Chantal at plants in Quebec, Europe and the United States, countless lively conversations between Rio Tinto Alcan sports fans and a world champion about her travels, her equipment and her training techniques, not to mention the admiring looks of young students wanting to know everything about the athlete's sports activities and personal life.
Since 1998, Chantal Petitclerc and Rio Tinto Alcan employees have come a long way together, yet continue to look ahead, for at the end of 2004, the company announced that it was renewing its sponsorship for the coming years.
